The best part about family is the pain killers.

I woke up this morning, as I usually do, in pain and not wanting to get out of bed because of said pain.  I used to think that it was because of my job that made me wake up every morning with a stiff neck and shoulders with a migraine from hell.  Moving causes shooting pains and all the voices can finally agree on one thing: Stay in bed until the pain goes away.

Unfortunately I can’t stay in bed today.  My mom’s family is getting together today to celebrate Christmas/new years/ my mom’s birthday.  I get to finally see my son, David, after not seeing him for a week and I get to see the rest of my mom’s side of the family.  The only problem with seeing family for the holidays is that it gets loud and mildly obnoxious to a point where napping is not an option and you simply have to pray the pain will knock you out.

Here’s the best part though: Family can help you forget about your pain.  Isn’t that fantastic?  Family can help you forget about your pain.  I’m not saying all families are super great and help you forget your pain.  Sometimes families can cause your pain too.  My favorite part about families is that you can make your own.  Literally.  The saying goes “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb”.  That means that the families forged by experience and choice are always going to be stronger and more fulfilling that ones created simply by your birth.

The moral to the story is this:

Get you a family that kills your pain and get rid of family that causes you pain.
